Life Legacy


Richard E. Brickley, 71, of Bluffton, died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, in the emergency room of the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Brickley was employed at Crosby’s Construction for 15 years, at General Motors for 10 years, and at Corning Glass for 10 years. He attended the Bluffton Wesleyan Chapel. He enjoyed the Wheels of Yesteryear and playing cards with his friends.

Mr. Brickley was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Wells County, to Herbert Brickley and Gladys Lucabaugh Brickley. He married Judy Kay Kahn June 27, 1959; his wife died July 10, 2002.

Survivors include four sons, Dick Brickley of Wabash, Tom (Stacey) Brickley of Francesville, and Rick (Debra) Brickley and Mick Brickley, both of Bluffton; six grandchildren; seven sisters, Elizabeth (William) Heron of Montpelier, Freida Key (Ken) Jackson of Monroeville, Beatrice (John) Huffman of Goshen, Janent Marshall of Fort Wayne, Dorothy (Enos) Gore of Keystone, and Alice Jacobs and Dixie (Hank) Osborn, both of Ossian; and five brothers, Dean (Gelene) Brickley of Ossian, Chester (Jeanne) Brickley of South Bend, Clarence
(Debby) Brickley of Tocsin, and Bill (Lois) Brickley and Jerry (Pat) Brickley, both of Bluffton.

He is also survived by a companion, Gladys Twigg of Bluffton.

Calling will be from noon to 8 p.. Friday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Chad Clark officiating. Burial will be at the Horeb Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Wells County Boys and Girls Club or to Family Hospiice and Palliative Care.
