David L. Goodwin

Born in Bluffton to Carl and Melba (Moore) Goodwin, Dave is a 1969 graduate of Bluffton High School and a 1980 graduate of Mid-American College of Mortuary Science. 

On November 15, 1980, Dave married Shirley (Burnell) and they have three children together, Nicole (Brooks) Morgan of Bluffton, Cassie Goodwin of Bluffton, and Aaron Goodwin, who is recently graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, IN.  Along with their three children, Dave and Shirley have five grandchildren; Jackson, Pierceton, Alannah, Madeliene & Tinnley.

Dave is a member of the First Reformed Church of Bluffton, where he has served as Deacon, Elder, and is currently the Treasurer of the Trustees.  He holds memberships in the Indiana Funeral Director's Association and Indiana Independent Funeral Director's Association, and is also a charter member of the Funeral Ethics Association.

Douglas L. Cale

Funeral Director/Owner

Born in Blackford County to Joe and Sue Cale, Doug moved to Wells County in 1970.  He is a 1987 graduate of Bluffton High School and a 1992 graduate of Mid-America College of Mortuary Science.

Following graduation of Mortuary School, Doug served his apprenticeship with Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Homes in Fort Wayne and obtained his Funeral Director's License in Spring of 1993.  Doug then joined the Goodwin staff in 1996, where he has been since.

Doug married Shannan J. (Shoemaker) in 1990.  He was elected coroner of Wells County for two consecutive terms, from 2000 through 2008.  He currently is serving as the Wells County Deputy Coroner. 

Doug is a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Indiana Funeral Director's Association, Bluffton Optimist's Club, Indiana State Coroner's Association, PI SIGMA ETA National Mortician's Fraternity, & Michigan Snowmobile Association.  In his spare time, Doug enjoys touring on his Goldwing motorcycle with his wife and snowmobiling in the U.P. of Michigan.

Mitch Harnish

Funeral Director/Owner

A lifelong resident of Wells County, Mitch is the oldest son of Ron and Lee Ann Harnish of Bluffton.  He is a 2004 graduate of Norwell High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, while participating in football, basketball, and baseball.

Graduating from Manchester College in the Spring of 2008, Mitch received a bachelor's degree in Business Management, along with a minor in Non-profit Organization.  While at Manchester, he was a four year letter winner and two year captain of the football team.  In 2009 he graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science and now is a licensed funeral director with Goodwin Memorial Chapel.  Mitch has been employed with the funeral home since 2002.

In 2008 Mitch married his high school sweetheart Breana (Bayouth) and they currently reside in Bluffton and attend Life Community Church.  Breana is currently a nurse with Bluffton Regional Medical Center.  They have one son, Austin.

John Dickason

Funeral Director Assistant

Born and raised in Wells County, John Dickason is a 1962 graduate of Chester Center High School.  He is married to Sue (Kammer) for 46 years and they have three children, Tonya (Rich) Brown, Curt Dickason, and Erin Meyer.  They also have 6 grandchildren; Jeremy, Daniele, Cassie, Jake, Madison, and Samantha, along with one great-granddaughter; Olivia Jo.

John is a Past Master of the Bluffton Masonic Lodge 145, a member of the Bluffton Optimist Club, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, and is also a member of the Mizpah Shriners of Fort Wayne.
